Job: Enterprise IT Application Manager at Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company

Reports to: Chief, Information Technology

Objective of the role

This role will be responsible for the implementation and support of all IT applications; maintenance of a secure IT environment, training and development of the enterprise applications team and users of the IT systems implemented in IE.
This role will also be responsible for ensuring the adoption of the right architecture principles across all information technologies.

Responsibilities

Develop, implement and maintain IT application systems to meet user department requirements in IE and to achieve long-term strategic business requirements;
Develop, implement and enforce necessary policies and procedures on the proper use of application systems and associated hardware; to ensure a secure operating environment with defined levels of authority and usage.
Oversee the development of appropriate information technology user manuals/guidance notes.
Coordinate with HR and admin department to define IT staff training needs on application system development, database administration, application support, etc. to keep them abreast of industry developments in information technology.
Coordinate with the human resources and administrative department to identify and meet the computer training needs of users of computer application systems in the various departments.
Develop budget requirements and monitor expenditures on deployed information systems to ensure expenditures are properly forecasted and maintained within agreed limits.
Oversee the development of maintenance and support programs for all software updates required for;
Ensure minimum application downtime and fast issue resolution.
Review and study functional requirements for new application systems in various and evaluate implementation options;
Assess and evaluate the various vendors available for the defined functional requirements; and provide an appropriate IT implementation/upgrade plan;
Prepare a detailed migration plan for any system/software upgrades to ensure proper business continuity;
Provide required management information on IT performance to aid in effective decision making;
Keep abreast of new developments in information technology and its applications in the electricity sector and ensure that the company makes the best use of these developments;
Comply with Quality Management System/Occupational Health and Safety requirements, including objectives and applicable regulations related to assigned tasks.

Minimum qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in information technology or computer science; a master’s degree in information technology will be an added advantage.
8-10 years of experience managing/implementing computer application systems, preferably in a power company.

Technical skills

Programming and application development
Application system management – maintenance and troubleshooting
Software development skills – C++ or C#, Java, Reacts, etc.
Proficiency in SQL, Python and in-depth knowledge of data analysis.
